Asia-Pacific’s construction industry IT hiring activity drops 8.6%  in October 2021

Asia-Pacific witnessed an 8.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the construction industry in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

October 2021 has seen a decrease of 3.15% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.12% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering a decrease of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 68.29% in October 2021, a 21.29% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 9.95% in October 2021, marking a 27.72% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 8.68% in October 2021, a 25.64% drop from September 2021.

Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 6.36% in October 2021, a 32.81% rise over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 16.33% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s construction industry during October 2021 over previous month.

Honeywell International posted 290 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 41.18% over the previous month, followed by General Electric with 101 jobs and a 26.28% drop. Jones Lang LaSalle with 87 IT jobs and Johnson Controls International with 74 jobs, recorded a 52.63% rise and a 39.62% rise, respectively, while ABB recorded a 6700% increase with 68 job postings during October 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s construction industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 53.63% share in October 2021, an 11.48% decrease over September 2021. Australia featured next with a 14.44% share, down 34.35% over the previous month. China recorded a 12.27% share, a drop of 31.95% compared with September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.9%, down by 17.31% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.55% share, registered a decline of 21.98% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.72% share, down 23.98% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.82%, recording a month-on-month growth of 10%.
