Asia-Pacific’s construction industry IT hiring activity rises 5.8% in February 2022

Asia-Pacific witnessed a 5.8% rise in IT hiring activity in the construction industry in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

February 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.27% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.62% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 0.52% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 64.3% in February 2022, a 15.41% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 13.05% in February 2022, marking a 22.93% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 11.63% in February 2022, a 38.71% rise from January 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 4.73% in February 2022, an 18.6% decline over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 41.56% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s construction industry during February 2022 over previous month.

Honeywell International posted 385 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered an increase of 10.32% over the previous month, followed by Installed Building Products with 92 jobs and a 162.86% growth. Ecolab with 68 IT jobs and Caterpillar with 64 jobs, recorded a 61.9% rise and a 33.33% rise, respectively, while Arcadis UK (Holdings) recorded a flat growth with 62 job postings during February 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s construction industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 62.54% share in February 2022, a 20.29% increase over January 2022. Australia featured next with a 13.39% share, up 31.13% over the previous month. China recorded a 9.74% share, a flat growth compared with January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.73%, up by 19.04% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 27.05% share, registered a growth of 9.89% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.48% share, down 0.64% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.74%, recording a month-on-month growth of 175%.
