Asia-Pacific witnessed an 8.8% drop in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
September 2021 has seen a decrease of 5.78% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 5.19% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 57.89% in September 2021, a 14.4% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 17.11% in September 2021, marking a 12.16% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 13.68% in September 2021, a 30.67% drop from August 2021.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 6.05% in September 2021, a 4.55% rise over the previous month.
Top five consumer companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 13.64% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s consumer industry during September 2021 over previous month.
Haier Group posted 91 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a decline of 13.33% over the previous month, followed by Unilever with 29 jobs and a 23.68% drop. Reckitt Benckiser Group with 25 IT jobs and Coca-Cola Amatil with 14 jobs, recorded a 19.35% drop and a 55.56% rise, respectively, while Masan Group recorded a 20% decline with 12 job postings during September 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s consumer industry
China commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with a 34.47% share in September 2021, a 23.39% decrease over August 2021. India featured next with a 31.05% share, down 26.25% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 12.63% share, a growth of 9.09% compared with August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.05%, down by 19.64% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.53% share, registered a decline of 25.71% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.11% share, down 32.5% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.32%, recording a month-on-month growth of 25%.
