Australia’s construction industry registered a 20.4% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 6.57% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.
Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.1% share in October 2021, recording a decrease of 0.21% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Australia’s construction industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 94.3% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s construction industry in October 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 50.78% in October 2021, registering a 19.67% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 18.65% share, a decrease of 58.62% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 9.84%, registering a 52.5% decline from September 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.81%, down 34.62% over the previous month.
Top five construction companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 41.84% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s construction industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
The GPT Group posted 39 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a drop of 66.95% over the previous month, followed by Monadelphous Group with 30 jobs and an 18.92% drop. Actividades de Construccion y Servicios with 26 IT jobs and Honeywell International with 11 jobs, recorded a 36.84% growth and a 21.43% decrease, respectively, while Downer EDI recorded a flat growth with 8 job postings during October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 80.83%, down by 15.68% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 10.88% share, registered a decline of 63.79% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8.29% share, down 68.63% over September 2021.
