The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 1.29% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.74% share in October 2021, recording a decrease of 0.76% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 54.12% in October 2021, registering a 21.37% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 14.71% share, an increase of 38.89% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 10.59%, registering a 50% decline from September 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 9.41%, up 100% over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 23.19% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s construction industry during October 2021 over September 2021.

Manulife US Real Estate Investment Trust posted 25 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a drop of 3.85% over the previous month, followed by Komatsu with 18 jobs and a 260% growth. ABB with 15 IT jobs and Hatch with 14 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Stantec recorded a decline of 45.83% with 13 job postings during October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.24%, up by 4.5% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 17.65% share, registered a decline of 50.82% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.94% share, down 21.43% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.18%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
