Canada’s construction industry registered a 13.5% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.27% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.
Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.21% share in September 2022, recording an increase of 0.25% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s construction industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.83% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s construction industry in September 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 31.89% in September 2022, registering a 74.58% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 28.17% share, an increase of 71.7% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 18.58%, registering a 53.85% rise from August 2022.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 12.07%, down 11.36% over the previous month.
Top five construction companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 45.86% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s construction industry during September 2022 over August 2022.
PCL Constructors posted 116 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 16% over the previous month, followed by Hatch with 45 jobs and an 181.25% growth. Colliers International Group with 13 IT jobs and SNC-Lavalin Group with 12 jobs, recorded an 85.71% growth and a 71.43% growth, respectively, while ADI Development Group recorded an increase of 166.67% with 8 job postings during September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.11%, up by 26.24% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 22.6% share, registered an increase of 82.5% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 21.36% share, up 155.56% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.93%, recording a month-on-month increase of 50%.
