Canada’s construction industry registered a 13.7% rise in IT hiring activity in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.77% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.
Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.27% share in February 2022, recording an increase of 0.85% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s construction industry’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.08% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s construction industry in February 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 72.36% in February 2022, registering a 17.12% growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 11.06% share, an increase of 24.32% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 5.53%, registering a 4.55% rise from January 2022.
4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 4.81%, up 25% over the previous month.
Top five construction companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 39.41% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s construction industry during February 2022 over January 2022.
Komatsu posted 196 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a rise of 17.37% over the previous month, followed by Installed Building Products with 38 jobs and a 3700% growth. Manulife US Real Estate Investment Trust with 21 IT jobs and Eaton Corporation with 14 jobs, recorded a 40% growth and a 133.33% growth, respectively, while Hatch recorded a flat growth with 14 job postings during February 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.71%, up by 16% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.39% share, registered an increase of 8.54% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.41% share, down 12.5% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.48%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
