Canada’s construction industry registered a 9.4% rise in IT hiring activity in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 7.39% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.9% share in December 2021, recording an increase of 0.68% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 63.42% in December 2021, registering a 23.56% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 10.62% share, an increase of 80% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 8.55%, registering a 222.22% rise from November 2021.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 7.67%, up 13.04% over the previous month.

 

Top five construction companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 81.6% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s construction industry during December 2021 over November 2021.

Komatsu posted 171 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a rise of 96.55% over the previous month, followed by WSP Global with 16 jobs and a 128.57% growth. Rockwell Automation with 14 IT jobs and Hatch with 14 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Manulife US Real Estate Investment Trust recorded a decline of 29.41% with 12 job postings during December 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.6%, up by 33.54% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 22.12% share, registered an increase of 29.31% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.68% share, up 30.3% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.59%, recording a month-on-month increase of 100%.
