Canada’s consumer industry registered a 9.7% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.06% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.23% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 0.27% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 93.75% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s consumer industry in September 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 50% in September 2021, registering a 30.43% decline over the previous month.
2) Computer Support Specialists claimed a 12.5% share, an increase of 300% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 12.5%, registering a 71.43% decline from August 2021.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 9.38%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five consumer companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 87.5% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s consumer industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
Sofina Foods posted 4 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Spin Master with 3 jobs and a 40% drop. Nestle with 3 IT jobs and Maple Leaf Foods with 3 jobs, recorded a 200% flat growth and a 50% flat growth, respectively, while Keurig Dr Pepper recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.88%, down by 25.81% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.75% share, registered a decline of 25% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.38% share, down 50% over August 2021.
