The construction industry’s overall hiring activity declined 7.23% when compared with September 2022.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 5.24% share of the global construction industry’s hiring activity in October 2022, up 0.23% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of October 2022 were 11.88% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 23.17% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 43.06% emerged as the top IT occupation in the construction hiring activity in October 2022, a 38.08% growth over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in second with a share of 31.01% in October 2022, down 25.82% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Analysts with a 9.45% share in October 2022, a decline of 31.59% over the previous month, and Computer Support Specialists with a 7.9% share in October 2022 and a rise of 6.79% over September 2022.
Top five construction companies by recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 60.55% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global construction industry during October 2022 over September 2022.
CDM Smith posted 1,431 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a rise of 390.07% over the previous month, followed by Black & Veatch with 767 jobs and a 103.45% growth. Komatsu with 377 IT jobs and Honeywell International with 228 jobs, recorded a 36.85% decline and a 36.67% drop, respectively, while Kier Group recorded a 14.9% drop with 217 job postings during October 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in construction industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global construction IT hiring activity in October 2022 with a 64.82% share, which marked a 13.92% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 20.03%, registering an 18.8% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 13.78% share and a 34.64% drop over September 2022.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 0.9% and a month-on-month drop of 5.41%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.45%, registering a 42.62% decrease over the previous month.
