The global consumer industry noticed a 2.1% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2021 over the previous month, led by Panasonic’s 6.32% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The consumer industry’s overall hiring activity declined 2.09% when compared with September 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 3.27% share of the global consumer industry’s hiring activity in October 2021, down 0.21% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of October 2021 were 0.18% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 0.41% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive consumer IT hiring activity
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 53.2% emerged as the top IT occupation in the consumer hiring activity in October 2021, a 2.82% decline over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in second with a share of 17.13% in October 2021, up 1.62% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 12.99% share in October 2021, a decline of 13.07% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with an 11.22% share in October 2021 and a rise of 34.24% over September 2021.
Top five consumer companies by recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 1% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global consumer industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
Panasonic posted 139 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 39% over the previous month, followed by Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 76 jobs and a 35.71% growth. The Procter & Gamble with 69 IT jobs and Haier Group with 58 jobs, recorded a 30.19% growth and a 40.21% drop, respectively, while Carrier Global recorded a 41.67% drop with 56 job postings during October 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in consumer industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global consumer IT hiring activity in October 2021 with a 49.07% share, which marked a 4.35% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 31.39%, registering a 0.73% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 15.17% share and a 20.1% drop over September 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 2.86% and a month-on-month rise of 12.5%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.32%, registering an 11.54% increase over the previous month.
