Malaysia’s construction industry registered a 30.5% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 35% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.
Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.46% share in September 2022, recording an increase of 1.38% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Malaysia’s construction industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s construction industry in September 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 64.62% in September 2022, registering a 78.72% growth over the previous month.
2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 31.54% share, an increase of 115.79% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 3.08%, registering a 42.86% decline from August 2022.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 0.77%, down 87.5% over the previous month.
Top five construction companies in Malaysia’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 78.57% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s construction industry during September 2022 over August 2022.
Sunway posted 109 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 84.75% over the previous month, followed by Hilti with 10 jobs and a 42.86% growth. Aurecon Group with 3 IT jobs and Arup Group with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while IJM Corporation recorded a decline of 50% with 1 job postings during September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.38%, up by 71.93% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 22.31% share, registered an increase of 45% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 2.31% share, down 40% over August 2022.
