Middle East & Africa’s construction industry IT hiring activity rises 7.8% in September 2022

Middle East & Africa witnessed a 7.8% rise in IT hiring activity in the construction industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2022 has seen a decrease of 6.06% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.11% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering an increase of 0.44% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 35.21% in September 2022, a 108.33% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 28.17% in September 2022, marking a 33.33% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 18.31% in September 2022, an 85.71% rise from August 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 11.27% in September 2022, a 60% rise over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 150% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s construction industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Dar Al-Handasah Consultants Shair and Partners Holdings posted 14 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Majid Al Futtaim Holding with 8 jobs and a 60% growth. Johnson Controls International with 5 IT jobs and The First Group with 4 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Honeywell International recorded a 55.56% decline with 4 job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s construction industry

United Arab Emirates commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 33.8% share in September 2022, a 140% increase over August 2022. Egypt featured next with an 11.27% share, up 14.29% over the previous month. South Africa recorded a 9.86% share, a growth of 75% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.2%, up by 56.67% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25.35% share, registered a growth of 28.57% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8.45% share, up 100% over August 2022.
