Middle East & Africa witnessed an 8.8% rise in IT hiring activity in the construction industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

December 2021 has seen an increase of 0.23% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 7% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.4% over the last three-month average share.

 

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 47.3% in December 2021, a 9.38% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 18.92% in December 2021, marking a 6.67% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 16.22% in December 2021, a 100% rise from November 2021.

Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 10.81% in December 2021, a 60% rise over the previous month.

 

Top five construction companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 100% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s construction industry during December 2021 over previous month.

Honeywell International posted 12 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 20% over the previous month, followed by Rockwell Automation with 11 jobs and a flat growth. SNC-Lavalin Group with 6 IT jobs and Tetra Tech with 6 jobs, recorded a 20% rise and a 20% rise, respectively, while CDM Smith recorded a flat growth with 5 job postings during December 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s construction industry

Israel commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 25.68% share in December 2021, a 171.43% increase over November 2021. United Arab Emirates featured next with an 18.92% share, up 40% over the previous month. Saudi Arabia recorded a 13.51% share, a drop of 56.52% compared with November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.11%, up by 26.47% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 29.73% share, registered a growth of 15.79% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.16% share, up 28.57% over November 2021.
