North America witnessed a 7.9% drop in IT hiring activity in the construction industry in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
June 2022 has seen a decrease of 7.53% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.14% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2022, registering an increase of 0.01% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 35.73% in June 2022, an 18.9% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 29.81% in June 2022, marking a 1.74% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 13.33% in June 2022, a 10.85% drop from May 2022.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 9.03% in June 2022, an 18.73% decline over the previous month.
Top five construction companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 43.32% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s construction industry during June 2022 over previous month.
CDM Smith posted 284 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered an increase of 28300% over the previous month, followed by Honeywell International with 271 jobs and a 24.88% growth. Komatsu with 201 IT jobs and Deere with 91 jobs, recorded a 25.28% drop and an 8.08% drop, respectively, while KBR recorded a 32.31% increase with 86 job postings during June 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s construction industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with an 87.16% share in June 2022, an 11.43% decrease over May 2022. Canada featured next with a 10.48% share, down 29.29% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 2.36% share, a drop of 2.9% compared with May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.85%, down by 17.24% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 31.43% share, registered a growth of 14.82% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.62% share, down 16.81% over May 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.11%, recording a month-on-month decline of 98.13%.
