September 2021 has seen an increase of 6.72% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.39% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 49.4% in September 2021, a 7.7% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 15.63% in September 2021, marking a 2.63% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 14.25% in September 2021, a 20.19% drop from August 2021.

Top five construction companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 10.52% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s construction industry during September 2021 over previous month.

Black & Veatch posted 315 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by CBRE Group with 128 jobs and an 11.3% growth. Owens Corning with 113 IT jobs and KBR with 64 jobs, recorded a 564.71% rise and a 1.54% drop, respectively, while NANA RegionalInc recorded a 40.57% decline with 63 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s construction industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 91.76% share in September 2021, a 1.78% decrease over August 2021. Canada featured next with a 7.5% share, down 16.56% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.74% share, a growth of 18.18% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.01%, down by 10.53% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 30.97% share, registered a growth of 38.36% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.54% share, down 30.03% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 3.49%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
