December 2021 has seen a decrease of 5.73% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 5.82% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.87% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 36.1% in December 2021, a 23.49% drop over the previous month. Computer Support Specialists came in next, claiming a share of 25.41% in December 2021, marking a 302.89% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 21.4% in December 2021, a 207.33% rise from November 2021.

Top five construction companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 146.31% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s construction industry during December 2021 over previous month.
CDM Smith posted 1,930 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 350.93% over the previous month, followed by Komatsu with 350 jobs and a 13.64% growth. Honeywell International with 291 IT jobs and Rockwell Automation with 192 jobs, recorded a 4.28% drop and a 2033.33% rise, respectively, while General Electric recorded a 20.98% increase with 173 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s construction industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 91.85% share in December 2021, a 26.55% increase over November 2021. Canada featured next with a 6.18% share, up 32.42% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.97% share, a growth of 27.06% compared with November 2021.
Mid Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Mid Level jobs held a share of 51.81%, up by 108.97% from November 2021. Junior Level positions with a 36.65% share, registered a decline of 15.93% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.39% share, up 11.98% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.15%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
