North America’s construction industry IT hiring activity rises 2.4% in September 2022

North America witnessed a 2.4% rise in IT hiring activity in the construction industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2022 has seen an increase of 1.48% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.31% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering an increase of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 36.91% in September 2022, an 11.55% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 32.76% in September 2022, marking a 53.88% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 11.41% in September 2022, a 13.08% rise from August 2022.

Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 7.59% in September 2022, a 15.48% rise over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 49.27% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s construction industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Black & Veatch posted 372 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered an increase of 18500% over the previous month, followed by CDM Smith with 285 jobs and a 0.7% drop. Honeywell International with 154 IT jobs and PCL Constructors with 116 jobs, recorded an 18.95% drop and a 16% rise, respectively, while Deere recorded a 9.35% decline with 97 job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s construction industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with an 89.25% share in September 2022, an 8.2% increase over August 2022. Canada featured next with an 8.88% share, up 53.81% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.84% share, a growth of 17.54% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.23%, down by 3.97% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.5% share, registered a growth of 17.55% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17% share, up 50% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 3.25%, recording a month-on-month growth of 1375%.
