North America witnessed a 16.2% rise in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
February 2022 has seen an increase of 5.1% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 1.97% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 0.22% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 53.05% in February 2022, an 18.34% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 16.32% in February 2022, marking a 44.5% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 13.6% in February 2022, a 48.39% rise from January 2022.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 11.65% in February 2022, a 9.44% rise over the previous month.
Top five consumer companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 275% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s consumer industry during February 2022 over previous month.
The J. R. Simplot posted 217 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Nestle with 92 jobs and a 607.69% growth. Carrier Global with 79 IT jobs and PepsiCo with 65 jobs, recorded a 49.06% rise and a 91.18% rise, respectively, while Panasonic recorded a 58.33% increase with 57 job postings during February 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s consumer industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with a 90.3% share in February 2022, a 23.05% increase over January 2022. Mexico featured next with a 6.98% share, up 100% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 2.72% share, a drop of 23.33% compared with January 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.43%, up by 24.28% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23.77% share, registered a growth of 21.08% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17.03% share, up 33.33% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.77%, recording a month-on-month decline of 23.53%.
