South & Central America witnessed a 13.7% rise in IT hiring activity in the construction industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

December 2021 has seen an increase of 2.43% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.01% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.54% over the last three-month average share.

 

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 55.7% in December 2021, a 51.72% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 16.46% in December 2021, marking an 116.67% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 12.66% in December 2021, a flat growth from November 2021.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 8.86% in December 2021, a 250% rise over the previous month.

 

Top five construction companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 293.33% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s construction industry during December 2021 over previous month.

Rockwell Automation posted 34 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by 3M with 14 jobs and a 40% growth. Tetra Tech with 4 IT jobs and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes with 4 jobs, recorded a 300% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while ABB recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during December 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s construction industry

Colombia commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 37.97% share in December 2021, a 275% increase over November 2021. Brazil featured next with a 22.78% share, down 18.18% over the previous month. Costa Rica recorded a 17.72% share, a growth of 16.67% compared with November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.7%, up by 37.5% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with a 27.85% share, registered a growth of 37.5% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 16.46% share, up 85.71% over November 2021.
