South & Central America witnessed a 13.7% drop in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
February 2022 has seen an increase of 6.66% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 2.34% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering a decrease of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 50.91% in February 2022, a 55.56% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 20% in February 2022, marking a 21.43% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 12.73% in February 2022, a 250% rise from January 2022.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 10.91% in February 2022, a 45.45% decline over the previous month.
Top five consumer companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 18.37% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s consumer industry during February 2022 over previous month.
BRF posted 19 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a decline of 34.48% over the previous month, followed by The Procter & Gamble with 13 jobs and a 44.44% growth. Alicorp with 3 IT jobs and Fomento Economico Mexicano SAB de CV with 3 jobs, recorded a 25% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while Nestle recorded a 50% decline with 2 job postings during February 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s consumer industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with a 52.73% share in February 2022, a 29.27% decrease over January 2022. Argentina featured next with a 16.36% share, down 43.75% over the previous month. Costa Rica recorded a 10.91% share, a drop of 33.33% compared with January 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.91%, down by 49.35% from January 2022. Entry Level positions with a 21.82% share, registered a decline of 50% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 7.27% share, down 20% over January 2022.
