UK consumer industry IT recruitment activity drops 8.7% in March 2022

The UK’s consumer industry registered an 8.7% drop in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.38% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.36% share in March 2022, recording a decrease of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry in March 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 59.42% in March 2022, registering a 21.9% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 14.49% share, a decrease of 33.33% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 13.77%, registering a 40.63% decline from February 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 7.25%, up 11.11% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 24.09% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry during March 2022 over February 2022.

Fujitsu General posted 39 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a drop of 39.06% over the previous month. Nestle with 10 IT jobs and Mars with 8 jobs, recorded a 42.86% growth and a 700%growth, respectively.

Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.64%, down by 16.94% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.94% share, registered a decline of 38.89% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.7% share, down 33.33% over February 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.72%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
