UK consumer industry IT recruitment activity drops  9.4%  in September 2021

The UK’s consumer industry registered a 9.4% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 10.53% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the consumer industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.38% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s consumer industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry in September 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 43.81% in September 2021, registering a 42.5% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 20.95% share, a decrease of 8.33% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 20%, registering a 12.5% decline from August 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.62%, up 33.33% over the previous month.

Top five consumer companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 5.36% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s consumer industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

Fujitsu General posted 20 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 23.08% over the previous month, followed by Reckitt Benckiser Group with 11 jobs and a 26.67% drop. Diageo with 9 IT jobs and Carlsberg with 7 jobs, recorded a 125% flat growth and a 600% flat growth, respectively, while Unilever recorded a decline of 40% with 6 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.62%, down by 15.48% from August 2021. Entry Level positions with a 19.05% share, registered a decline of 20% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 13.33% share, down 48.15% over August 2021.
