Here are the five largest construction projects initiated in North America during Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Sherman Semiconductor Chip Manufacturing Complex – $30,000m

The project involves the construction of four semiconductor chip manufacturing plants in Sherman, Texas, the US.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2030.

The project aims to strengthen the domestic semiconductor supply chain and will create 3,000 jobs once completed.

2. Suffolk Downs Redevelopment – $8,000m

The project involves the construction of a 1,505,029m2 mixed-use development on 65ha of land in Boston, Massachusetts, the US.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q4 2040.

The project aims to attract employers of growing industries and create a truly dynamic live and work environment for the residents of Revere and East Boston.

3. Mayfair Mixed-Use Development – $2,000m

The project involves the construction of a mixed-use facilities on 769ha of land in New Braunfels, Texas, the US.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2037.

The project aims to provide residential, commercial and educational facilities.

4. Keystone Trade Center – $1,500m

The project involves the expansion of 13,93,545m2, 20 Keystone Trade Center on 728ha of land in Pennsylvania, the US.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2025.

The project aims to meet the demand for warehouse facilities and light industrial use buildings in the region. It will create 10,000 jobs.

5. UC Irvine Campus Development – $1,300m

The project involves the construction of a healthcare complex on 81.75ha of land in California, the US.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2025.

The project aims to add a second full-service hospital to UC Irvine’s Orange County health care offerings.
