Five largest educational building construction projects initiated globally in Q4 2021

Here are the largest educational building construction projects initiated globally in Q4 2021, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Milan New Campus Development – $908m

The project involves the construction of a new university campus on a 15ha of land in Milan, Italy.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2031.

The aim of the project is to build a campus that concentrates on scientific facilities bringing the Human Technopole, the Innovative Research Hub and the Startup Valley under one campus.

2. 2050 Abner Creek Road Middle School – $300m

The project involves the redevelopment of a 700-seat middle school in South Carolina, the US.

Construction work commenced in Q4 2021 and is expected to finish in Q3 2024.

The project aims to provide better educational facilities in the region.

3. Birmingham Health Innovation Campus – $272m

The project involves the construction of a 61,037m2 health innovation campus on 4.04ha of land in Birmingham, West Midlands, the UK.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2031.

The project aims to provide leading office and lab facilities that will not only boost economic growth and job opportunities in the region but also aid the development of potentially life-saving treatments and technologies and establish Birmingham as a leading economic hub for life sciences.

4. Life and Mind Building – $262m

The project involves the construction of a 25,329m2, five-story educational facilities on 1.13ha of land in Oxfordshire, the UK.

Construction work commenced in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

It will be the largest building project ever undertaken by the university.

5. Ole Miss Science Building – $175m

The project involves the construction of an 18,580m2 science building in Oxford, Mississippi, the US.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The project aims to provide a platform to increase student research through hands-on education and active learning while encouraging collaborative research between students and faculty.
