Five largest multi-family housing construction projects initiated globally in Q4 2021

Here are the largest multi-family housing construction projects initiated globally in Q4 2021, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Wuhan Chow Tai Fook Financial Center – $7,178m

The project involves the construction of a 475m high-rise tower in Wuhan, Hubei, China.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2026.

The project aims to provide residential, commercial, retail and leisure facilities in the region.

2. Lincoln Yards Mixed-Use Development – $6,000m

The Lincoln Yards project involves the construction of a mixed-use community on 28.32ha of land in Chicago, Illinois, the US.

Construction work commenced in Q4 2021 and is expected to finish in Q4 2030.

The project aims to provide better residential, commercial, retail and office facilities in the region.

3. Uptown ATX Mixed-Use Complex – $3,000m

The project involves the construction of a 650,321m2 mixed-use community on 26.7ha of land at 11501 Burnet Road in Austin, Texas, the US.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2026.

The project is being built on the campus of tech giant IBM Corp. The structures currently on campus were built in the 1980s and will be demolished as part of the development.

4. Soco Mixed-Use Development – $2,000m

The project involves the construction of six towers comprising 1,519 units on 2.4ha of land in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

Construction work commenced in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide better residential, office, and commercial facilities in the region.

5. Currie Barracks Mixed-Use Development – $1,000m

The project involves the construction of a mixed-use community comprising 5,700 residential units, office and commercial facilities in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide a community with residential, commercial and retail facilities to house 11,000 residents. It is the final part in a three-phase redevelopment of a closed Canadian Forces base.
