Here are the top five commercial and leisure construction projects that commenced in Australia in Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Waterloo Metro Quarter Development – $650m

The project involves the construction of a mixed-use community in Sydney, New South Wales.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide better residential, commercial, and accommodation facilities in the region.

2. 360 Queen Street Office Tower – $608m

The project involves the construction of a 33-story, 200m high office tower in Brisbane, Queensland.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q4 2025.

In June 2017, Charter Hall Prime Office Fund (CPOF) and Investa Commercial Property Fund (ICPF) acquired the project site for $40 million from mining entrepreneur Clive Palmer. The site comprised of a 10-story office tower with ground-floor retail, a four-story office building, a seven-story office building, and an 11-story office building.

3. 480 Swan Street Office Development – $330m

The project involves the construction of a 12-story office tower in Melbourne, Victoria.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide better office facilities in the region.

4. Switchyard Industrial Estate Development – $158m

The project involves the construction of a 72,000m2 industrial estate on 14ha of land in Auburn, New South Wales.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q1 2023.

The project aims to provide better commercial and industrial facilities in the region. It will create over 700 construction and 1,000 permanent jobs.

5. Waldorf Astoria Sydney Hotel Development – $150m

Waldorf Astoria Sydney involves the construction of a 28-story luxury hotel development with 220 rooms in Sydney, New South Wales.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q1 2025.

The project aims to provide better hospitality and leisure facilities in the region.
