Top five commercial and leisure construction projects that commenced in Japan in Q2 2022

Here are the top five commercial and leisure construction projects that commenced in Japan in Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Saitama Data Center Campus – $1,000m

The project involves the construction of a 33,047m2 data center campus with a capacity of 97MW of critical IT capacity in Saitama.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q3 2025.

The facilities is designed to serve leading hyperscalers in Japan and will be built to the latest hyper-scale design and standards, with unrivaled scalability, connectivity, and reliability.

2. Saitama Hyperscale Data Center – $600m

The project involves the construction of a 60,000m2 hyper-scale 100MW data center on 3.3ha of land in Greater Tokyo, Tokyo.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q1 2027.

The project aims to provide a reliable data and network infrastructure to support Japan and its growing data generation of consumers and digital businesses.

3. Uchikanda 1-Chome District Redevelopment – $521m

The project involves the construction of an 84,500m2, 26-story, 130m high office tower with three basements on 0.51ha of land in Tokyo.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2025.

The aim of the project is to provide better office spaces in the region. It aims to redevelop the two sites, the Corp Building and the Hitachi Kamakurabashi Building into an office complex.

4. Logistics Sagamihara – $480m

The project involves the construction of a five-story, logistics facilities with a floor area of 170,900m2 on a 7.81ha of area in Sagamihara, Kanagawa.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The project aims to provide better logistics and storage facilities in the region.

5. DPL Komaki – $313m

The project involves the construction of a five-story, logistics facilities with a floor area of 192,376.98m2 on an 8.51ha of area in Komaki, Aichi.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q1 2024.

The project aims to provide better logistics and storage facilities in the region.
