Top five commercial and leisure construction projects that commenced in Malaysia in Q2 2022

Here are the top five commercial and leisure construction projects that commenced in Malaysia in Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Nusajaya Tech Park Data Center Campus – $316m

The project involves the construction of a 22,500m2 data center with a 54MW capacity in Johor.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q3 2026.

The project aims to support digital transformation and making Johor’s strategic location as a hub for regional growth.

2. Iskandar Data Center – $300m

The project involves the construction of a 500MW solar-powered data center on 111ha of land in Iskandar, Johor.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q4 2032.

The project aims to offer excellent diversity in power and connectivity. It will be the first data center in the region to be powered by solar energy.

3. Goodwood Residence Mixed-Use Complex – $200m

The project involves the construction of a mixed-use complex in Sungai Ara, Penang.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide better residential facilities and commercial facilities in the region.

4. Jernih Residence @ Kajang – $112m

The project involves the construction of a residential community with two blocks comprising 1,605 serviced apartments and 41 retail shophouses on 2.1ha of land in Kajang, Selangor.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide better residential and retail facilities in the region.

5. Gurney Wharf Project – $45m

The project involved the construction of a park on 20ha of land at Gurney Drive in Penang.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2025.

Once complete, the project will deliver significant new opportunities for the people in the region through publicly accessible waterfront promenades and retail, education, lifestyle and transport amenities.
