Five largest construction projects initiated in Brazil in Q2 2022

Here are the five largest construction projects initiated in Brazil during Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Maraba Steel Plant – $370m

The project involves the construction of a steel plant in Marabá, Pará.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2025.

The project aims to transform steel plates into 300,000 tonnes of rolled coils per year.

2. Araraquara Brewery Plant – $358m

The project involves the construction of a brewery plant on an area of 26.2ha in the municipality of Araraquara, São Paulo.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q4 2023.

The objective of the project is to develop a brewery plant to meet the growing market demand in the country and produce 1.5billion liters of beer per year.

3. Oeste Serido Wind Power Complex 247.5 MW – $285m

The project involves the construction of a 247.5MW wind power complex in Parelhas, Rio Grande do Norte.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2024.

The objective of the project is to generate electricity from renewable sources to meet demand in the domestic market.

4. Aracruz Industrial Port Terminal – $223m

The project involves the construction of an industrial port terminal on an area of 35.4ha at Barra do Riacho, Aracruz, Espirito Santo.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q2 2025.

The objective of the project is to accommodate the 60-120-meter length of vessels in the port with a handling capacity of 2,000 tons per year.

5. Botucatu Ceramic Tiles Factory – $128m

The project involves the construction of a ceramic tiles plant in Botucatu, São Paulo.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The project aims to increase the production capacity and offer complete solutions to consumers and customers. The unit will produce the Ceusa and Portinari brands large-format ceramic slabs, which can be used in countertops and facades.
