Five largest construction projects initiated in Canada in Q2 2022

Here are the five largest construction projects initiated in Canada during Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Centre of Excellence for Carbon Capture & Removal – $800m

The project involved the construction of a CCS plant to capture and store up to 2,000 tonnes of CO2 per day in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q3 2025.

The project will be Canada’s first commercial-scale carbon capture and removal manufacturing facilities, with filter modules capable of removing 10MTPA of carbon dioxide (CO2).

2. Springbank Road Off-stream Reservoir – $572m

The project involves the construction of a water storage dam that stands at 50m in height with a storage capacity of 78 million cubic meters covering a 1,497ha area near Calgary, Alberta.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q4 2025.

The reservoir will help control Elbow River flow rates during a flood and help protect residents and property in Rocky View County and Calgary.

3. North Harbour Mixed-Use Development – $320m

The project involves the development of mixed-use facilities on 4.85ha of land in North Vancouver, British Columbia.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q3 2025.

The aim of the project is to provide residential, commercial, retail and leisure facilities in the region.

4. Pinnacle Toronto East – $300m

The project involves the construction of a residential facilities on 1.41ha of land in Toronto, Ontario.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The project aims to provide better residential facilities in the region.

5. Mississauga Alba Condominium Tower – $200m

The project involves the construction of an 109m-tall, 32-story condominium tower in Mississauga, Ontario.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q2 2025.

The project aims to provide better residential facilities in the region.
