Five largest construction projects initiated in China in Q3 2021

Here are the five largest construction projects initiated in China during Q3 2021, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Third West-East Gas Pipeline Middle Section (Zhongwei-Ji’an) Natural Gas Pipeline – $7,068m

The project involves the construction of a 2,090km gas pipeline with an annual transmission capacity of 25 billion cubic meters (BCM) between Zhongwei in Ningxia and Ji’an in Jiangxi, China.

Construction work started in Q3 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2028.

The main purpose of the project is to improve the gas transportation infrastructure within China.

2. Liuzhou-Wuzhou Railway Line – $4,793m

The project involves the construction of a 237.78km railway line from Liuzhou to Wuzhou in Guangxi, China.

Construction work commenced in Q3 2021 and is expected to complete in Q4 2025.

3. Zhangzhou Development Zone Shuangyu Island Secondary Development – $4,335m

The project involves the construction of the Shuangyu Island in Zhangzhou, Fujian, China

Construction work started in Q3 2021 and is forecast to complete in Q3 2025.

The project aims to promote the image and quality of coastal tourism and provide leisure and entertainment facilities in the region.

4. Zengcheng-Foshan Expressway: Zengcheng-Tianhe Section – $2,376m

The project involves the construction of a 38.4km-long expressway from Zengcheng to Tianhe Section in Guangdong, China.

Construction work commenced in Q3 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2025.

The purpose of the project is to expand the highway network and reduce traffic, travel time, and distance.

5. Hefei-Zhoukou Expressway: Shouxian-Yingshang Section – $2,267m

The project involves the construction of an 95.25km expressway from Shouxian to Yingshang section in Anhui, China.

Construction work started in Q3 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The project aims to build an expressway to increase mobility and to provide smooth flow of traffic.
