Five largest construction projects initiated in China in Q3 2022

Here are the five largest construction projects initiated in China during Q3 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Zhanjiang Third Largest Verbund Site Development – $10,134m

The project involves the construction of a Petrochemical plant in Guangdong.

Construction work started in Q3 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2030.

The project aims to increase the production of ethylene glycol used as ingredients for polyesters chips fibers, PET bottle-grade chips, polyester industrial yarn, coolants, paint formulations, and wire enamels.

2. Yichang Lithium Battery Industrial Park – $8,830m

The project involves the construction of a lithium battery industrial park in Yichang, Hubei.

Construction work commenced in Q3 2022 and is expected to finish in Q1 2025.

The project aims to meet the growing demand for lithium batteries and cathode materials in the region.

3. Fourth West-East Gas Pipeline (Wuqia-Zhongwei) Natural Gas Pipeline – $5,930m

The project involves the construction of a 3,340km gas pipeline with an annual transmission capacity of 15 billion cubic meters (BCM) between Wuqia country in Xinjiang and Zhongwei in Ningxia in China.

Construction work started in Q3 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2026.

The main purpose of the project is to improve the gas transportation infrastructure within China.

4. Xuzhou Metro Line 4 – $3,805m

The project involves the construction of a 33.9km railway line in Xuzhou.

Construction work commenced in Q3 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2027.

The objective of the project is to build a rail system to reduce traffic congestion and travel distance in the region.

5. Fourth West-East Gas Pipeline (Turpan-Zhongwei) Natural Gas Pipeline – $3,291m

The project involves the construction of a 1726.4km gas pipeline with an annual transmission capacity of 15 billion cubic meters (BCM) between Turpan in Xinjiang and Zhongwei in Ningxia in China.

Construction work started in Q3 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2025.

The main purpose of the project is to improve the gas transportation infrastructure within China.
