Five largest construction projects initiated in France in Q3 2022

Here are the five largest construction projects initiated in France during Q3 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Seine Nord Europe Canal – $6,050m

The project involves the construction of a 107.4km long canal between Oise (Compiègne) and Aubencheul-au-Bac in France.

Construction work started in Q3 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2030.

The purpose of the project is to link the France’s Seine River to Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands to transport about 13 million tons of cargo by river, the equivalent of 500,000 trucks per year thereby reducing CO2 emissions in the region.

2. Hopen Tower Redevelopment – $100m

The project involves the redevelopment of a 23-story office tower by adding three extra stories and an additional area from 58,000m2 to 65,000m2 area in La Défense business district, Paris, Ile-de-France region.

Construction work commenced in Q3 2022 and is expected to finish in Q4 2024.

The project aims to renovate the tower built in 2001 and to offer future users a mixed building that meets the best international standards, while opening up new living spaces to residents of the La Défense district at the foot and at the top of the tower.

3. Les Nouvions Wind Farm 44 MW – $81m

The project involves the construction of a wind farm with a generation capacity of 44MW in the commune of Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache, Aisne department, Hauts-de-France region.

Construction work started in Q3 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2023.

The primary objective of the project is to meet the growing demand for energy in France.

4. Lezennes Mixed-Use Development – $80m

The project involves the construction of a four-story 30,000m2 mixed-use complex on a 2.8ha of land in the municipality of Lezennes, Nord department, Hauts-de-France region.

Construction work commenced in Q3 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide a new retail destination in Lezennes.

5. Vosges Insulation Products Manufacturing Plants: Pavatex III – $80m

The project involves the construction of a bio-based insulation manufacturing plant in Chavelot, in Vosges Department, Grand Est region.

Construction work started in Q3 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The aim of the project is to meet the demand for rigid wood fiber insulation panels in the region.
