Five largest construction projects initiated in India in Q2 2022

Here are the five largest construction projects initiated in India during Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Kurnool Renewable Energy Storage Facility – $3,000m

The project involves the construction of an energy storage facilities in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The main objective of the project is to provide clean energy by using renewable sources and to meet the growing demand for energy in the region.

2. Pinnapuram Integrated Renewable Energy Project 5230 MW – $2,000m

The project involves the construction of a 5,230MW integrated hybrid renewable energy project on 1,929ha of land at Pinnapuram village Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q4 2025.

The project aims to address the growing demand for power in the region, with 15,000 people to be employed during construction and 3,000 people after construction.

IREP project was a combination of solar and wind and pumped storage facilities.

3. Delhi to Saharanpur Highway Upgrade – $620m

The project involves the upgrade of a 155km six-lane road from Delhi to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2024.

The project is being developed under the public-private partnership model. Uttar Pradesh Government will undertake projects through viability gap funding in order to make them profitable for the promoter.

4. SCB Medical College and Hospital Redevelopment – $478m

The project involves the redevelopment of a medical college and hospital on 70ha of land in Cuttack, Odisha.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The project aims to provide better medical education and better healthcare facilities in the region.

5. Bestfield Commercial Development – $425m

The project involves the construction of three 22-story commercial towers on 9.7ha of land at Netaji Subash Place in New Delhi.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q1 2026.

The project aims to provide better commercial and office facilities in the region.
