Five largest construction projects initiated in Mexico in Q2 2022

Here are the five largest construction projects initiated in Mexico during Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Vista Pacifico Liquified Natural Gas Plant – $2,000m

The project involves the construction of an LNG export terminal on 150ha in the Municipality Of Ahome, Topolobampo, Sinaloa.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2025.

The objective of the project is to export to nations with which the US has free trade agreements (FTA). It aims to increase natural gas production in the Rockies region.

2. Puerto Penasco Solar Park 1000 MW – $1,644m

The project involves the construction of a solar power plant on 2,000ha area in Puerto Penasco, Sonora.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q4 2027.

The objective of the project is to serve 4 million inhabitants of Sonora and some areas of Baja California.

3. Guadalajara to Tlajomulco Light Rail Line Development – $453m

The project involves the construction of a light rail line between Guadalajara and Tlajomulco in Jalisco.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q2 2024.

The project aims to improve transportation facilities.

4. Ethane Terminal Development – $400m

The project involves the construction of an Ethane terminal in Laguna de Pajaritos, Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The objective of the project is to build a world-scale ethane terminal. The project will be in the CIIT – Interoceanic Corridor of the Tehuantepec isthmus.

5. Cutzamala Line 3 Potable Water Distribution System – $306m

The project involves the construction of pipelines to supply 138,240M3/d (16,000l/s) in Cutzamala, Guerrero.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q2 2023.

The purpose of this project is to provide an uninterrupted potable water supply in the region.
