Five largest construction projects initiated in Mexico in Q4 2021

Here are the five largest construction projects initiated in Mexico during Q4 2021, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Mexicali Oriente Multi-Fuel Power Plant 400 MW – $365m

The project involved the construction of a solar power plant in Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The plant will operate continuously during the summer months however the rest of the year it will be used to provide a balancing service for the grid.

2. East Connection Highway to AIFA – $198m

The project involves the construction of an East Connection Highway to AIFA in Mexico.

Construction work commenced in Q4 2021 and is expected to finish in Q4 2023.

The objective is to seamlessly link the northern part of the Valley of Mexico with the center and south of the country’s capital, also facilitating mobility between the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) and the Mexico City International Airport.

3. Parque Industrial Multi-Fuel Power Plant 200 MW – $185m

The project involves the construction of a solar power plant in Sonora, Mexico.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2023.

4. La Gloria to Colombia Road Development – $153m

The project involves the construction of a 96km road between La Gloria and Colombia, Mexico.

Construction work commenced in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The objective of the project is to boost the economy in the northern part of the state.

5. Rosewood Mandarina Hotel Development – $144m

The project involves the construction of a hotel on 21.5ha land in 265 Nectare Mandarina, Riviera Nayarit, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The objective of the project is to develop a combined hotel and housing complex under one roof.
