Here are North America’s five largest institutional building construction projects that were initiated in Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Dallas Athenaeum Cultural Arts District – $158m

The project involves the expansion of the 15,886m2 Richardson Campus on 4.8ha of land in Richardson, Texas, the US.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2026.

The project aims to establish the University of Texas at Dallas as a cultural hub with outdoor features including landscaped gardens, tree-lined walkways, paved open spaces with benches and water features, an amphitheater, and public sculptures.

2. Nanaimo Correctional Centre Replacement – $157m

The project involves the construction of a correctional facilities of 200 cells in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q4 2024.

The aim of the project is to envision a new center that will better support staff and enhance NCC’s unique effective programs.

3. Salt Lake Frank E. Moss U.S. Courthouse Renovation – $116m

The project involves the expansion of the Frank E. Moss U.S. Courthouse in Salt Lake City, Utah, the US.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2024.

The main aim of the project is to provide more courtroom space and consolidate several federal agencies into one building in Salt Lake City.

4. Fairchild Flight Base Operation Facility – $100m

The project involves the construction of a 5,784m2 operations facilities in Spokane, Washington, the US.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide better commercial facilities in the region.

5. Redwood City Navigation Center – $57m

The project involves the construction of a navigation center in Redwood City, California, the US.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q3 2024.

The aim of the project is to provide short-term housing and other services for people experiencing homelessness.
