Here are the top five multi-family housing construction projects that commenced in Canada in Q4 2021, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Soco Mixed-Use Development – $2,000m

The project involves the construction of six towers comprising 1,519 units on 2.4ha of land in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide better residential, office, and commercial facilities in the region.

2. Currie Barracks Mixed-Use Development – $1,000m

The project involves the construction of a mixed-use community comprising 5,700 residential units, office and commercial facilities in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Construction work commenced in Q4 2021 and is expected to finish in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide a community with residential, commercial and retail facilities to house 11,000 residents in the region. It is the final part in a three-phase redevelopment of a closed Canadian Forces base.

3. Metrotown Property Redevelopment – $778m

The project involves the construction of seven multipurpose facility towers on a 3.60ha site area on the South Side of Kingsway at Nelson Avenue, Next to Metropolis in Burnaby.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2024.

The project aims to provide a diverse range of modern amenities including, residential, hotel, retail, commercial, and innovation space facilities under one roof.

4. Hearthstone at Cambrian Crossing – $500m

The project involves the construction of a residential facilities comprising 1,700 residential units in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada.

Construction work commenced in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The project aims to provide better residential facilities in the region.

5. Water Street by the Park – $200m

The project involves the construction of three residential towers of 42, 28 and 24 stories comprising 650 units in British Columbia, Canada.

Construction work started in Q4 2021 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The project aims to revitalize the Leon Avenue corridor in downtown Kelowna and provide better residential facilities in the region.
