Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions and Texas Woman’s University (TWU) have announced they have gained funding for the mixed-use student housing project.

The new $75.5m public-private partnership project will be built at the TWU’s main campus located in Denton, US.

It will see creation of additional student housing and amenities at the university’s sophomore class.

Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions senior vice-president Josh Smith said: “Texas Woman’s University has set forth an exciting vision to develop a community that will deliver a transformative on-campus living-learning experience for students.

“We are thrilled to work with TWU and our partners to leverage the public-private partnership model and bring this important new infrastructure to their Denton campus.”

“Amenities are designed to enhance the on-campus living experience for TWU sophomores, including a fitness centre, lounge, study areas, and community gathering spaces.”

The Residential Village development project includes construction of three lots of four and five storey Georgian-style buildings. They will feature 872 student beds designed in pod-style living quarters with spa-like communal bathrooms offering private facilities.

Additionally, the project will feature three separate apartment units that will be built for on-site resident directors.

TWU student life vice-president Monica Mendez-Grant said: “We are delighted to work with Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions to reinforce TWU’s strategic plan to accommodate more students on our campus and to provide high quality residences with more social space and amenities.

“This project will allow TWU to increase opportunities for students to live in a residential setting and enable the university to increase access to the student experience while maintaining the high standards for institutional quality.”
