Seniors Housing developer and operator Belmont Village Senior Living and developer Greystar have started construction on a premier senior living community project in California, US.

The partners have held the ground-breaking event for the Belmont Village Senior Living of La Jolla project, located at 3880 Nobel Drive.

The project marks Belmont Village’s 32nd senior living community and third in San Diego County. It also marks Belmont’s first collaboration with another developer.

Belmont Village founder and CEO Patricia Will said: “A mutual colleague brought us together; Greystar had sourced a terrific location with an entitlement history that made it a perfect opportunity for licensed seniors housing.

“We saw the potential of the site, and of bringing our mutual expertise together to create something really unique in independent and assisted living.”

The land was purchased by the companies in March and a construction loan was secured in May.

Greystar executive director Jerry Brand said: “This is really a situation where two strong developers have joined forces and one plus one equals three.”

Belmont Village La Jolla is planned as a 17-storey high-rise building with 180 units for independent living, assisted living and memory care.

It will feature a fitness centre, full-service salon and spa, private screening room, bistro for casual dining and full-service dining room, as well as personal wine storage.

The dining programme has been designed to include a range of flavours, from southern California to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Belmont and Greystar have been collaborating to develop the project since late 2017. They are also working on a second development in San Diego County.
