The UK’s Cambridgeshire County Council has appointed Kier to undertake the first phase of the design and construction of its new £45m Northstowe Education Campus.
Intended to address the lack of school places in the county, the 133,203ft² project will become a part of the new sustainable town Northstowe, as well as offer teaching and learning facilities for 3,000 students aged up to 19 years.

Following the completion, the site will become Cambridgeshire’s largest educational campus. It will consist of a nursery, a 3FE primary school, a secondary school, Special Educational Needs (SEN) school and sixth form college.
Kier will also offer a new secondary school, the seventh owned by Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT). This school will provide places for up to 600 pupils aged 11-16 and then will be extended in two subsequent phases for 1,800 pupils.
It will have a multi-purpose school hall/theatre space and drama studios, a large sports hall, a gym, two dance studios and all-weather floodlit football and hockey pitches.
Kier has already begun enabling works on the location with the first group of students starting next September.

Kier was recently appointed by Northumberland County Council to deliver a £42m school and leisure development in Ponteland.
