Construction company John Sisk & Son (Sisk) has been chosen by property developer Bruntwood to deliver the first phase of the commercial development at Circle Square, a new city centre neighbourhood in Manchester, UK.

Carrying a £96m development value, the award comes after Sisk was chosen to deliver the £140m Circle Square Affinity residential development for Bruntwood’s joint venture partner Select Property Group in November 2017. This takes the total value of the project to £240m.

Sisk is set to complete all the current contract works on the project that will, at its peak, employ 1,300 people during 2021.

“Both projects demonstrate Sisk’s commitment to building a long-term strategic alliance with the city and our clients.”

Sisk managing director for UK North & Major Projects Guy Fowler said: “John Sisk & Son is delighted to be selected as construction partner to deliver the next phase of this exciting development on behalf of Bruntwood and Select Property Group. Both projects demonstrate Sisk’s commitment to building a long-term strategic alliance with the city and our clients.

Carrying a total development value of £750m, Circle Square will provide an urban neighbourhood in Manchester and be delivered over three phases with more than two-thirds of the scheme completed by 2020.

According to the masterplan, the project will feature 1.2 million square metres of commercial office space, 1,700 new homes and 100,000ft² of ground floor retail and leisure space for shops, studios, bars and restaurants.

A multi-storey car park and two hotels will also offer an additional amenity to the site. Approximately 250,000ft² of public realm will provide green space.
