UAE-based DAMAC Properties has assigned the AED600m ($163.3m) construction project to China State Construction Engineering (CSCEC) for the construction of a tower at its AYKON City master development.
Located near Dubai Canal, the project contract includes construction of a tower containing serviced apartments within the AYKON City development.
The facility will feature two basements, ground floor and ten podium levels, dedicated lifestyle and entertainment level, 53 residential floors and a rooftop.
DAMAC Properties Commercial senior vice-president Mohammed Tahaineh said: “This is a major contract towards the realisation of AYKON City, one of DAMAC Properties’ largest master developments in the heart of Dubai.
“CSCEC is one of the biggest contactors in the world and after careful consideration of various aspects, we agreed to the proposed partnership.
“The towers at AYKON City will be yet another iconic addition to this great city’s dynamic skyline, and we are accelerating its development by choosing the right partner for the job.”
Preliminary enabling work for the tower has been completed with the main construction due to start this week. More than 11,000t of steel and 94,682 metric cubes of concrete will be used.
Launched in February 2016, the four million foot squared AYKON City plan features residences, serviced apartments, a hotel, and office space.
The facility will also house the AYKON Plaza entertainment and lifestyle hub, which will include swimming pools, spa, beach club, cafes, restaurants, exercise areas, and a private recreation space called The Club.
The development project is located on the eastern and western sides of Sheikh Zayed road at the Safa Park intersection.
