Real estate developer The Fallon Company has started construction on its new mixed-use development in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, US.

The 1.86-acre mixed-use Raleigh Crossing project will be carried out in two phases and feature 280,000ft² of office space, 18,000ft² of street-level retail space, a 165-room hotel and a 135-unit apartment community.

It will also see the development of an outdoor amenity terrace, sidewalks and an activated ground level.

As part of the first phase, construction works have also started on a 19-storey, 292,500ft² commercial tower, 301 Hillsborough.

Raleigh mayor Nancy McFarlane said: “We are excited to welcome The Fallon Company to downtown Raleigh.

“This new mixed-use development will help drive continued job growth in our city and bring new commercial, residential and retail opportunities to the downtown. We look forward to The Fallon Company’s continued success in North Carolina.”

To be designed by Durham-based Duda | Paine Architects, the first phase of 301 Hillsborough will comprise an office lobby, a multi-utility amenity terrace and a tenant-only fitness facility.

Featuring a glass facade and human-scale design, it will also have a streetscape with 12,500ft² of space for retail and dining use.
