Foster + Partners completes 310m high Varso Tower in Poland

Varso Tower has large-span floorplates with a 3m clear height for open-plan offices.

Foster + Partners has announced the completion of the 310m high Varso Tower, an integral portion of HB Reavis’ Varso Place in Warsaw, Poland.

This tower is claimed to be the tallest in the European Union.

Varso Tower is located at the corner of Jana Pawla II and Chmielna Street and features the public plaza on its western end that joins the adjacent buildings.

At the centre of the project is a plaza, which is surrounded by a glazed screen animated with trees and benches.

This ‘urban room’ becomes the point of connection between office workers, who may use it as a sit-out during breaks, and the public.

Two banks of double-deck lifts serve the offices.

With 70,000m² of office space, the tower has large-span floorplates with a 3m height for open-plan offices.

Through two panoramic lifts, the public can access the top of the tower directly from the ground. There is a viewing platform at level 53.

Shortly to offer a fully landscaped terrace bar with 16 trees, level 49 will break the record for Warsaw’s highest garden.

Foster + Partners Studio head Grant Brooker said: “Our client HB Reavis has been a fantastic champion of the project throughout, and our local collaborators at Epstein and Buro Happold have worked tirelessly alongside us.

“We believe that the tower, filled with activity and featuring extraordinary rooftop public spaces, will make a strong, positive contribution to this wonderful city. We hope that it will become a hub for local and international business and a symbol for contemporary Poland.”

Last month, Foster + Partners completed the new headquarters for civilian drone manufacturer DJI in China.
