Georgia Tech Athletics has revealed several upgrades to the Bobby Dodd Stadium, which is located at Historic Grant Field in Atlanta, the US.

Grant Field’s new Shaw Sports Turf Legion NXT playing surface has been installed and the initial paint scheme of the field has been revealed. The surface installation started this May.

The paint scheme includes Georgia Tech’s traditional white and gold interlocking GT logo at midfield, as well as two different background colours in the end zones.

The north end zone has a gold background while the south end zone features a navy blue background.

Georgia Tech’s new ATL logo features the ‘T’ from GT’s athletics wordmark and Tech Tower on the 30-yard lines.

The paint scheme also includes four trophies under each goal post, which represent Georgia Tech’s four national football championships.

The installation of the Legion NXT field was carried out without any permanent markings. This enabled Georgia Tech to change paint schemes during the course of the season.

Other highlights of Bobby Dodd Stadium’s off-season enhancement projects include a new top-of-the-line LED lighting system.

The lighting system was introduced during Georgia Tech’s ‘Light It Blue’ tribute to front-line workers this April.

Other highlights include an upgraded stadium-wide sound system, a full rebrand of all stadium signage highlighted by tributes to Clint Castleberry’s retired jersey No 19 and Georgia Tech’s College Football Hall of Famers in the seating bowl.

There is also a new back-lit Georgia Institute of Technology sign affixed to the Wardlaw Building in the south end zone.

In addition, a full refresh of the stadium’s restrooms was part of the project.
