Housing association Home Group has selected Ask Real Estate and BAM Construction to deliver its new head office in Strawberry Lane in Newcastle, UK.
Earlier this year, Home Group was permitted to build the six-storey 70,000ft² building in the city.
Once operational in 2022, the new purpose-built building will accommodate close to 700 of its 2,600 employees. The construction work is scheduled to begin this year.
BAM’s UK unit will construct the new head office building, which will house Home Group’s administrative and customer service centre staff.
It will also be designed to provide spaces that promote enablement, collaboration and innovation in the voluntary sector.
Home Group Development executive director Joe Cook said: “We are delighted with the appointment of Ask Real Estate. Their outstanding work, especially in city centres, speaks for itself.
“The project team and I are excited about working with them, and the excellent BAM. Ask’s track record in delivering high-quality, innovative and sustainable buildings was key in our decision to appoint them.”
The project is expected to generate job opportunities for around 700 employees and create an estimated 400 construction and supply chain jobs.
BAM North East construction director Tony Fitzgerald said: “The new head office will play a significant role in Home Group’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
“Not only will the building adhere to the latest sustainable practices, but the relocation from North Tyneside to Newcastle City Centre will also reduce the organisation’s environmental impact in other ways.”
