American architecture and engineering solutions provider KAI Design & Build (KAI) has acquired Atlanta-based Dorsey Engineering for an undisclosed sum.
With the acquisition, KAI has further expanded its presence in Georgia and Florida while enabling Dorsey’s existing clients to access its expansive technologies, additional engineering consulting and design resources.

KAI president Michael Kennedy, Jr said: “This acquisition is important to KAI for several reasons. We now have a broader reach in Atlanta that will extend all the way from our headquarters in St. Louis, down to Jacksonville, Florida, and around our existing offices in Texas and Nebraska.
“Acquiring Dorsey also enables us to have greater opportunities in a prime engineering-focused role, as opposed to being an engineering subconsultant, which has generally been KAI Engineering’s role in the past.
“Dorsey Engineering has earned a reputation for engineering quality with superior name recognition. Both of our clientele will benefit greatly from our shared resources at the national level.”
Dorsey Engineering owner Brad H Dorsey will remain with the firm to facilitate a smooth transition during the transition period, and then work as a consultant until his retirement.
