Marshall wins contract for Scotland’s Linen Quarter redevelopment

Marshall Construction has been awarded a contract for the redevelopment of the Linen Quarter in Dunfermline, Scotland.

Marshall Construction has been awarded a contract for the redevelopment of the Linen Quarter in Dunfermline, Scotland.

The company is the principal contractor for the first two phases of the redevelopment scheme designed by JM Architects. The contract is valued at £11.25m ($13m).

Previously known as the Pilmuir Works, the Linen Quarter is located adjacent to the historic Carnegie Leisure Centre and Fire Station Creative.

In 2017, the developer Byzantian Developments acquired the site and submitted a planning application for the refurbishment and development of a mixed-use neighbourhood.

Named The Depot, Phase 1 of the project will involve the construction of 37 apartments with a retail space intended for private sale.

The second phase Foundry will provide 66 mid-market residential units for the Kingdom Initiatives.

The residential property on the site will include a mix of one, two and three-bed apartments.

Marshall construction development & bid manager Gareth Bland said: “We are delighted to have been appointed the main contractor to build The Depot & Foundry, a development that will revitalise the town centre.

“We look forward to working with our new client Byzantian to successfully deliver these projects that will drive growth in Dunfermline and the surrounding areas. Our experienced project team has already established the site and commenced the works.

“These new contracts demonstrate our ongoing appetite for new opportunities in the Scottish construction market, as we move forward to deliver our growth strategy.”
